LOEWE Center “Dynamics of Religion” Established Featuring Nirenberg Keynote Address

On June 22, 2026, the LOEWE Center “Dynamics of Religion” welcomed David Nirenberg to deliver a keynote lecture, marking the first public event of the new center. This interdisciplinary event featured international speakers from Jewish Studies, Islamic studies, and History to examine Jewish-Islamic coexistence through case studies from antiquity to the present, also touching on their political and societal implications. Nirenberg’s lecture was titled, “What Does History Have to Do with Prophecy? Past and Future in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism” as part of the opening event.

The LOEWE Center “Dynamics of Religion” is a major interdisciplinary research hub in Germany where scholars from the humanities and social sciences explore the complex relationship between three monotheistic religions.
