On April 16, 2026, Clare Hall welcomed David Nirenberg as a distinguished speaker for a special 60th anniversary edition of the Tanner and Ashby Lectures. Nirenberg’s Tanner Lecture, titled “What does history have to do with prophecy? Past and Future in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism” considered humanity’s prophetic sense of history and the influence and impact of such thinking.

The Tanner and Ashby Lectures represent an annual showcase of the intellectual community at Clare Hall and demonstrate the power of ideas to connect disciplines and generations.
